The “Fittes House” Map
Our walking tours are free and if you book with our guides, you will receive an official copy of our tour map. For those who do not wish to take part in our official tours, we are including the map here for you to print off. A lot of hard work has gone into the development of these tours and the production of the maps. Please do not distribute these maps without prior consultation. Our admin team can be contacted on admin@georgesgazetteer.blog. Enjoy!
The TV version of “Fittes House” is, in reality, The Barbican Centre. Used in multiple scenes of two episodes of the show, the site is extensive. There are locations on three of the centre’s six levels, which makes finding the exact spots time-consuming.
Credit for this site plan goes to @Bobbysnotsosmall. Thanks, Rebekah!

Approaching the Barbican
Before you even get to the Barbican, you need to choose which tube station you are going to use. Many people choose “Fittes’ House” as their next stop after visiting “35, Portland Row” (33, Claremont Square). The best route between those two areas is via the tube from Angel Underground station to Moorgate Underground, NOT the underground station known as the Barbican!
We recommend Angel to Moorgate using the Northern line going SOUTH.

Aerial View of the Site

Not only is the Barbican a large site, it is also on many different levels, some of which are restricted to residents, and some which are open access.
On this aerial view of the Barbican centre ( courtesy of Google Maps), it is hard to see the different floor levels. The red arrow is at ground level on Silk Street, whilst the purple arrow is Floor 2.
The image of Lucy is at the only external location. It is on the same level as the purple arrow!
The Purple Line Route

Exit Moorgate Station onto Moorfields and turn right.
Head west towards Moor Lane using the cut through called New Union Street.
(Alternatively, follow Moorfields to the end of the road and turn left onto Ropemaker Street and then left onto Moor Lane.)
At the junction of Moor Lane and Silk Street, you will find a lift and set of stairs.

Climb to the upper floor. You are now on the purple line from the above map.
Follow the path west (straight on), until you reach another set of stairs. Without climbing them, bear left to the side of them and follow the path under cover to enter the main centre building. It’s a bit quirky, but you are aiming for the Library.
You have now entered the main Barbican Centre and are currently on Floor 2.
